The meeting was called to order at 8:30 by Commissioner Goffena. Commissioner Turley was present. Norma Trent was present. Commissioner Pancratz joined the meeting at 8:45 AM.

Commissioner Turley made a motion to approve the agenda for the day, Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion, Motion carried.
Commissioner Goffena made the motion to approve the minutes from August 7th, 2026, as written. Commissioner Turley seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Eric Randall visited the Commission virtually to inquire about the status of the Hampton Road petition submitted to the Road Dept.
Nathalia Collins write in candidate for County Attorney joined public comment virtually.
Boyd Porter with the Refuse Department requested information on the Safety Committee and to express his interest in representing the Refuse Department to ensure safety compliance at the Roundup Transfer Site.
- Commissioner Turley made the motion to Table the Review and Signing Resolution 2026-21 a resolution Donating Land to American Legion, pending independent land appraisal. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion, motion carried.
- Commissioner Turley made the motion to Table the Review and Signing of the Warranty Deed for the Land Donated to the American Legion. Commissioner Goffena 2nd the motion, motion carried.
- Commissioner Goffena made a motion to review and approve the Contract Renewal for Professional Services submitted by Theresa Doumitt d/b/a ATW Consulting. Commissioner Turley seconded the motion, motion carried.
- Commissioner Turley made a motion to Review and Sign Resolution 2026-23 increasing County Elected Officials and all other eligible employees pay by $1.00 contingent on the approval of the budget. Commissioner Goffena seconded the motion, motion carried.
CAS Marshall reported the Airport Paving Grant has been completed and paid out in the amount of $19,340. Budget Amendments, Journal Vouchers, and Appropriations were also discussed. The Commission will meet with the CAS on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
County Agent Cooley updated the Commission on the Fair Board Meeting, the 4-H Fair, and Fair Ground Maintenance. A Water Quality Class will be held at the Extension Office on September 10th. The department will hold a canning class in October, in Lavina.
Sheriff Lesnik gave his weekly report to the Commissioners. He reviewed the storm damage insurance claim for the Musselshell County Jail has been approved. The bid received was $31,800 with the County being responsible for the deductible of $2,000. Additionally, last week the department had a call for concern event that allowed them to send in the drone to investigate the interior of a building without compromising the deputy’s safety.
DES Director Russell and DES Coordinator Rook gave their weekly report to the Commissioners. There were 17 office visits, 15 phone calls, 3 Rural Addressing/GIS Activities, 2 calls for service. Service Calls included The Pivot Fire, burning 3.35 acres and a Fire Alarm at Roundup Memorial Hospital, determined to be a false alarm. The department attended 2 meetings, including Fire Restrictions Meeting and GIS Project Meeting. The department will be doing GIS Mapping in the field next week.
CHW Nick Lattrell gave his update to the Commissioners. He will be taking the Narcan Class on September 14th. He reviewed the Central Montana Health District is offering a class opportunity for Adolescent Suicide Prevention for teachers and facility. Also reviewed was a licensure opportunity from the State of Montana for CHW, offering an 80-hour course to get certified for assisting patrons on Medicare/Medicaid.
Theresa Doumitt updated the Commissioners on the status of the Wier Building.
Public Comment: Darwin Cooke is working on an RV Park for Musselshell. He has gone through DEQ and met requirements. He requested a letter from the Commission stating all County Requirements have been met. Commissioner Pancratz confirmed that the Planning Board will review the application.
